Future of payments

In my half-sleep/half-wake this morning, I was thinking –why does Costco still use a real person to check the membership of the people who come in?  And why use a real person to check the receipts on their way out?  (We all know that they don’t really check either to match, anyway.)

…I was thinking that a turnstile wouldn’t be able to tell whether one membership card should match to one person, or to a family of people, so that’s one problem a human can easily solve.

That led to, why do we still carry things like credit cards?  I’m not one to carry cash, so that’s already out of the question for me.

Continuing in my half-sleep/half-wake state, I was thinking that in the future, we could probably do eye scans for payments.
